1 Corinthians 15:22-26 -- On Destroying Death

"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death."
1 Corinthians 15:22-26

This is some great, mind boggling stuff. The idea that death is an enemy of God, and that death will be destroyed... no death, ever again, and everyone resurrected... so that Christ causes life to triumph... that's amazing. There are Science Fiction stories about no death, being unable to die, or immortals, but only a few hints in scripture about real immortals other than God. It's a fascinating concept, and immortality seems like an infinitely better challenge (if it is a challenge) to deal with than worrying about death.

Today, let's look forward to an end to death and a future of unbroken happiness, as we do what God asks so that we can stay on the path to that future.

  1. The thought of unending life in our current condition is daunting at best. I think the really glorious thing about conquering death is conquering all the things that make this life a trial, and the inevitability of death is certainly not the greatest of those. Once we have overcome our own weaknesses and the vagaries of mortality, then I think we can truly look forward to the conquering of death
