Hebrews 4:1-2

"Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it."
Hebrews 4:1-2

There are some interesting things in here... it kind of reminds me of the parable of the sower.  We all hear about the gospel, but so many of us react to it differently... and some of it is because there is no faith mixed in, and ... the recipe never comes out very well without the faith.  It is one of those must-have ingredients.  And what we should be afraid of is losing that sensitivity to the word that faith gives us.  Of becoming so attached to someone or something else, that we don't... can't... listen to God anymore.  Nothing makes it through the static being created by whatever alternate we have placed there.  And it is *so* easy to let happen... we've probably all seen the slow decline in others, watching something else displace God in a person's life.  It's hard to watch... and hard to come back from if we let it happen in ourselves.  So, today, let's be vigilant.  Gospel PLUS faith.  Mix well.  Apply generously to our lives. :)
