Hebrews 13:1-3

"Let brotherly love continue.
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body."
Hebrews 13:1-3

This is great stuff. I think sometimes we get distracted in life and get too insular.  We stop reaching out to people outside our families, or an already-established circle. ... So here is God to remind us.
We need to reach beyond our little islands, and remember to care about other people.  Remember our friends, remember random other people.  Strangers aren't all bad.  We're supposed to entertain them. :) ... We're encouraged to consider other people as ourselves.  Not just people we already know and care about... but going further.  People we don't already know, and don't already care about... and perhaps even harder... people we might know, but don't really care about.  Or people we don't know and don't really want to know.  Today, let's work on seeing things the way another person might see them... understand someone else's point of view, as though it were ours.  That way, we'll have more compassion for everyone.  And ... let's let brotherly love continue, as we remember that everyone around us is actually our brother or sister.
