Moroni 6:9

"And their meetings were conducted by the church after the manner of the workings of the Spirit, and by the power of the Holy Ghost; for as the power of the Holy Ghost led them whether to preach, or to exhort, or to pray, or to supplicate, or to sing, even so it was done."
Moroni 6:9

I had a bishop once who used to have a sacrament meeting every six months or so that he ran like this.  After the sacrament it was completely open... not just as a testimony meeting, but for anything.  People would get up and sing, or talk about a scripture... whatever they felt prompted to do. :)  There were a few bizarre things... people rehearsing for months, planning for the "surprise" meeting.  But it was kind of cool.  Sometimes I think that we get caught up in the way we think things should be so much that we might not hear the Spirit telling us to do something... I mean, does the spirit prompt us to bear our testimonies in fast & testimony meeting only?  of course not, but how often are we open to that prompting outside of that meeting?  And then, of course, how often do we listen for the Spirit outside of church?  I know that I need to think about this... the gospel is not just a Sunday thing, but I know that sometimes I treat it like that.  Incorporating the gospel into every part of our lives... or incorporating our lives into the gospel rather... is one of the most essential ingredients to becoming *whole* ... consistent... true to everything we believe in.  So often we try to separate the gospel from our lives, when they are integral parts of one another... they can't *be* separated.  When we try, we divide ourselves.
