Mosiah 13:11 -- On the Plans of God

"And now I read unto you the remainder of the commandments of God, for I perceive that they are not written in your hearts; I perceive that ye have studied and taught iniquity the most part of your lives."
Mosiah 13:11

I love the lessons of Abinadi here. He was standing in front of a group that was going to kill him eventually, and yet God had a work for him to do... this lesson, going on for several chapters, originally for an audience of one. Alma was one of the wicked priests, and he believed Abinadi and wrote down his sayings after trying to save him (see chapter 17).
It's a great lesson in sacrifice, but also in redemption. Abinadi triumphed in death, and Alma overcame his folly and built up a righteous church again. Something awful turned into something wonderful, all planned by God, who cannot be stopped in his work of lifting and helping us. Everything bad that the world attempts to do to beat us down and destroy us, God will overcome by infusing hope where there is despair, by bringing to life all that were dead, by healing all of our hurt and harm. He offers us a chance to be part of his work and make a difference. Let's be like Abinadi and like Alma. Being willing to die, and live, for Him, and his work of healing and saving us all.
