"Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price."
1 Peter 3:3-4
I like the idea here that we should adorn ourselves with the way we behave rather than by how we dress or groom ourselves. It is another flesh versus spirit idea... not that we shouldn't be clean and well-groomed of course, but that the important thing, the thing that we should prioritize, is the internal / spiritual beauty of being meek and quiet ... under control, calm, happy, joyful. We can show people that God helps us to be happy, and to control our anxiety and cope with the things around us, as we have confidence and faith in him, and his ability to teach us and help us. Which is better overall than just showing off our cool clothing or our wealth. :)
Today, let's focus on displaying our hearts and spirits--our gifts from God rather than our cool stuff. :) Let's set a better example, and work on being welcoming and inclusive rather than using clothing or wealth to separate ourselves from others.
