2 Nephi 2:2 -- On Consecrated Afflictions

"Nevertheless, Jacob, my firstborn in the wilderness, thou knowest the greatness of God; and he shall consecrate thine afflictions for thy gain."
2 Nephi 2:2

I like the idea of consecrated afflictions... that the things that are hardest for us in life are totally worth it (even though it is painful and doesn't seem positive at all at the time), because God consecrates them for our gain... or in other words, devotes them to a specific cause, which is strengthening and helping us. As we turn to God, everything that we go through will be turned to our good in some way--to make us more resilient, to allow us to be more empathetic and helpful to others, to teach us things that we need to know for the future. With God, even the bad times can have a purpose and a reason. Today, let's have hope that what we are going through will help us, through the grace of God, and take the chance to look past our current trials to the growth and blessings ahead.
