Isaiah 17:7-8 -- On Looking to our Maker

"At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images."
Isaiah 17:7-8

This is a good reminder to look to God rather than to overvalue the work of our own hands and put other things before the Lord. ... Recognizing the real power and source of hope and strength in our lives is necessary so that we can actually tap into the help that the Lord offers us, and know that he can heal the emptiness and pain in our lives when we run into it. Although we often look for solutions in other places, or attribute power elsewhere, God is the only one who can fill the emptiness inside ourselves, and truly heal our souls.
