1 Peter 1:23-25 -- On Considering Eternity

"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you."
1 Peter 1:23-25

It is good to remember, though also a little sad, that this life is extremely temporary. More happily though, all that God offers us is eternal. Being born again through baptism in him is that first step towards a far, far better existence.

Today, even though we are caught up in the cares of our temporary existence, let's spare a thought and consider eternity, realizing that we need to plan for that future with just as much care (and hopefully more) as we put into planning our lives now... and that possibility and hope comes through God to us, so let's read his word and listen to his plan as he works to ensure us a good place in that "far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory" (2 Corinthians 4:17).
