Hebrews 5:7-9 -- On Suffering, Obedience, and Perfection

"Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;"
Hebrews 5:7-9

This is talking about Christ, and I think it is good for us to know that Christ learned in the same ways that we do, through the things that we experience and sometimes suffer. Luckily, our lives are not typically full of suffering and nothing else, so that we can also learn joy, and as it states here, learn obedience as well. Often we do this through trial and error, eventually observing that God gives impeccable advice, and our lives are much worse when we take our own path.

Today, let's turn to Christ, who suffered for us, and who became perfect and able to lead us through our trials as well, if we turn to him and trust him enough to take his advice and do as he asks. Let's work on that and get closer to our own perfection as well. :)
