Hebrews 13:20-21 -- On Being Made Perfect

"Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."
Hebrews 13:20-21

I like the idea of God making us perfect here... and in case we think that isn't possible, we are reminded that God brought Christ back from the dead, and everything points to that central action of the gospel.

This, of course, doesn't mean that we don't need to work at it, but it means that we don't have to worry about becoming perfect without a lot of help from God.  He will help us every step of the way, and lead us in the way that we should go, making it possible rather than impossible to change into the people that we want to be rather than the people that we are, over time and with effort. :)

I think this idea offers a lot of hope.  As long as we don't give up, and we keep trying, God gives us a chance to get closer and closer to our ideal selves, and someday we will get there, to that perfect day. :)  Today, let's hope in that and be willing to move forward with God towards perfection.
