Genesis 41:53-54 -- On Plans and Perspective

"And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.
And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread."
Genesis 41:53-54

This reminded me of something that was mentioned in conference... that the global pandemic didn't catch God by surprise.  And, like the seven years of dearth that God warned Pharaoh and Joseph about, that holds true for all the things that happen around us in the world, and even for the ones that baffle us directly in our own lives.  God knew about all of it before it happened, and he has a plan that covers all of it... everything we can think of, plus all the things that we couldn't ever have known, because it is all known to God.

This is a hugely hopeful thing to me because God knows how to make everything okay.  He prepares a way and provides for every possibility, and as Nephi told us, "the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them" (1 Nephi 3:7).  Which means that things aren't ever as impossible as they seem.  We will likely run into a lot of roadblocks, but if we keep at it, there will be a way.

Today, let's remember that God's plan is never frustrated, even when ours is. :)  God knew our lives would take whatever turn they have, and he still has awesome things in store for us.  Whatever change is throwing us for a loop, let's switch gears as quickly as we can and regain some perspective, and find the good.  It is always there.
