Proverbs 21:13

"Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard."
Proverbs 21:13

This makes me think of a paper that I was editing the other day.  It was about welfare reform... the whole thing is interesting, trying to find a middle ground between providing for the hungry and trying to encourage personal responsibility.  Unfortunately, whatever our individual political views, there are still poor people who don't have enough to provide the necessities of life for themselves and their families.  As we learn how to become a Zion people, we will have to change this... in Zion there were no poor.  There wasn't the scary division of wealth that we see today... everyone was provided for.  How did they do it... and how will WE do it, as we move toward Zion?  As we go throughout our individual lives, do we hear the cry of the poor?  We can make a difference in someone's life... we just have to act.
