Moroni 10:32

"Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God."
Moroni 10:32

This is an interesting thought (of course, I am sure that all of God's thoughts are interesting...) ... the whole concept of denying yourself ungodliness.  Like C. S. Lewis and not keeping any souvenirs of hell. :)  When we think of denying ourselves we often think of sacrifice... of giving up something we really, really want.  And so it is with sin, and with any type of ungodliness.  It is so hard for us to let go of that last vestige of "I want to be cool, I want to be rebellious" or that "exclusive club" attitude where we get to pick and choose who we like and who we will be nice to. :) (Wouldn’t it be interesting if we started some "Inclusive" clubs?) And these are just social attitudes... how much harder to let go of some of our most serious addictions... or things that seem, perhaps, trivial, but which we know that we have to give up at some point.  I like also here that we can be perfect... in Christ.  That when we drop the last of the souvenirs (in the local trash receptacle of course... no littering)... and we actually commit to God with our whole souls... nothing held back... that he can take that effort and make it pure and perfect.  So, today... when someone offers us some ungodliness, let’s just say “no... I'm trying to quit.” :)  Throw away all of those little packets of ungodliness we have stored all around the house. :)  Let’s give it a shot.  After all, perfection is probably pretty fun. :)
