Luke 11:34-35

"The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness."
Luke 11:34-35

Isn't this remarkably true? Our perspective dictates our whole being... filling us with light or darkness, depending upon where our focus is.  If we are looking for darkness, we find it, both outwardly and inwardly.  If we look for light, we can find that as well.  Like a work of literature.  In college some of my English major friends and I would sit around and apply different literary theories to fairy tales... and when you look, you can find almost any perspective there, whether or not the author intended it.  And, whether or not the author intended it, when we look within ourselves we can find evidence of almost any social or philosophical theory there is.  Fortunately we have God as our guide, and since he is the author, he can help us to see what the text can mean if we look at it in its best light. :) Today... let's look for the light.  See the good in ourselves and others... focus on God, and the beauty and light that he offers each of us in our lives.  It is easy to focus on the darkness, and get swallowed up in the inequities and cruelties of life... but there is always another perspective. Too often we get caught up in one that can't lift us up to be better people. Let's choose to focus on the light.
