Ether 4:15-16

"Behold, when ye shall rend that veil of unbelief, which doth cause you to remain in your awful state of wickedness, and hardness of heart, and blindness of mind, then shall the great and marvelous things which have been hid up from the foundation of the world from you--yea, when ye shall call upon the Father in my name, with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, then shall ye know that the Father hath remembered the covenant which he made unto your fathers, O house of Israel.
And then shall my revelations which I have caused to be written by my servant John be unfolded in the eyes of all the people.  Remember, when ye shall see these things, ye shall know that the time is at hand that they shall be made manifest in very deed."
Ether 4:15-16

...So, we're returning to the end-of-the-world theme that we started with a few months ago.   I was just reading this morning, and this scripture kind of hit me, and since I didn't have another theme in mind, I thought I would go for it...
Anyway, interesting.  that the reason that we can't get to the truth about who we were before this life, and everything that the Lord has for us... is because WE have a problem believing it.  it talks about US rending the veil of unbelief... I never really got that ever before.  then we will see things that we have been promised before we were born.  And he talks about prayer too... the broken heart and the contrite spirit.  I was talking to my friend on the phone the other day about something and we were talking a little about vulnerability... and I think that's what this means.  when we can get down on our knees, and be vulnerable with the Lord... knowing that we can't do it ourselves... knowing that we have made a lot of mistakes, but asking anyway for God to please, please, please help us sort out what is left... when we open ourselves up like that, then we are really communicating, then we are in the place that this scripture is talking about.  and it talks about in the second verse the book of revelations... and that it will all be fulfilled when we do this... as a community, and as a people.  we have a responsibility to rend that veil, and to show other people how to rend it when we can... and if we are patient and persistent in our prayers and our efforts... then we, as a community... will rend that veil, and everyone will feel the light and warmth and peace of God flowing freely.  and what a feeling that is.  Remember, when Lehi partook of the fruit of the tree of life, the first thing he wanted to do was to share it with other people... taste this... it's incredible. :)  so, partake yourself... find out how good it is.  breathe it in… and then tell others about it... when they can hear you.
