Interesting stuff in here...the spirit is a totally different way of knowing, and we can't understand the things that are spiritual without participating in them ourselves. Sometimes we try to grasp everything mentally before letting the spirit in... when it should be the other way around. The Spirit teaches us quicker, and really is the only way to really comprehend some things. Comparing spiritual things with spiritual... apples to apples. We can't compare non-spiritual things to spiritual things and make sense. I think we try to do that a lot... make trade-offs in our lives... but it doesn't work that way. We’re like little kids, trading a dime for a nickel because the nickel is bigger. Except that we seem to never grow up and grasp the concept of money. :) We keep trading non-spiritual things for spiritual things, and don't see their value... they appear as foolishness to us, because we aren't seeing things truly. We're trapped down here in our "bigger is better" mentality, or maybe we believe that a picture of George Washington is more important than a picture of Lincoln... we see, and we focus on things, but we are totally not getting it.
Then, I think the next verse means that by the spirit we have the ability to make good judgments, but no-one really has the ability to judge us unless they also have the spirit.
The last verse I love. Einstein said "I want to know God's thoughts" ... and seriously, who doesn't? But we *have* the spirit, which is as close as we can get to a continuous stream-of-consciousness from God. :) The spirit can tell us continually what God thinks of what we are up to and the things that are going on in our lives... and so we have what Einstein sought his entire life... amazing. :)
God is pretty smart. :) Maybe we should listen to him. :)
